Located on Boonah’s High Street, The Commercial Hotel Boonah - affectionately known as the Commie - is a heritage Queenslander pub established in 1905 and a true heart of the town.
Proudly owned by Brisbane-based Ghanem Group Hospitality since 2022, the family-run group also operates venues across Brisbane and Melbourne, alongside their Tarome farm, home to cattle and natural springs that support the hotel’s sustainable approach.
Thoughtfully restored in 2025, the pub now features 10 guest rooms, Federation filigree details and the iconic public bar, blending old-fashioned hospitality with modern comforts including air conditioning, an upgraded kitchen, accessible facilities, plus an on-site gaming room and bottle shop.

We’re a boutique hotel with a big soul, and nowhere is that more evident than in our food and drink From our lively public bar, to the ground‑floor bistro, and adjacent beer garden and microbrewery - Boonah Brewing Co – you’ll find bottomless old-fashioned hospitality within our doors.
Dine in the bistro or our spacious beer garden overlooking the working brewery, where an ever-changing line-up of brews is crafted using pure spring water from underground aquifers. Not only is the water local, but the by-products from brewing feed our family farm’s cattle, completing a true paddock-to-pint experience that makes every beer and every bite taste a little better in Boonah.
Our bistro menu celebrates a sustainable farm-to-fork philosophy, with pub classics like deep-pan pizza, burgers, and steaks. Every dish highlights the Scenic Rim, including our UltraBlack Native Angus beef from our family farm in Tarome.
Open Tuesday to Sunday, the bistro is a favourite with locals and visitors alike, so we recommend booking ahead or chatting with our team.
